Pack 29 is looking to fill several leadership positions. If you'd like to volunteer for any of these positions, please contact Rob Stanford (robstan@mac.com). A list of open leadership positions are shown below in the order of importance. For more information on these positions, click on the title above. - Assistant Cubmasters
- Secretary
- Public Relations
- Leadership Recruitment
- Membership Chairperson
- Pack Committee Member
Assistant Cubmaster - Helps the Cubmaster as needed and is ready to fill in for the Cubmaster, if necessary.
- Participates in Pack Meetings.
- Works with the Pack Committee to develop and promote recruiting of new boys.
- Helps with pack activities, such as dinners, derbies, service projects, etc.
- Participates in the annual pack program planning conference and pack leaders' meetings.
- Supports the policies of the Boy Scouts of America.
Chartered Organizational Representative - Direct contact between the Pack and Auburn United Methodist Church.
- Helps select the right leadership for the Pack.
- Encourages leaders to take training.
- Promotes the recruiting of new members.
- Suggests ways the Pack can serve Auburn United Methodist Church.
- Works with church staff to reserve rooms for meetings.
- Suggests ways of showing interest in Auburn United Methodist Church's overall program.
- Urges pack participation in appropriate programs at Auburn United Methodist Church, such as Scout Sunday.
Secretary - Keeps notes on business conducted at pack leaders' meetings.
- Keeps records that are useful for the history of the Pack.
- Maintains the Pack library.
- Helps new den leaders by telling them what resources are available.
Public Relations - Stimulates pack service projects within Auburn United Methodist Church, Wrights Mill Road Elementary, and the Auburn area.
- Promotes family participation in all pack events, such as Blue & Gold Banquet, campouts, and Pack 29 Survivor.
- Circulates recruiting fliers and leaflets to invite boys to join.
- Works with the Pack Committee to promote new membership.
- Makes use of the news media in publicizing pack events.
- Works with Auburn United Methodist Church to get information in the bulletin, newsletters, and magazine.
- Potentially maintains the pack website.
- Potentially publishes pack newsletters.
Leadership Recruitment - Works with Pack Committee Chairman and Cubmaster to determine leadership needs within the pack.
- Helps identify potential volunteers for open leadership positions.
- Actively seeks out individuals for open leadership positions in a positive manner.
Blue & Gold Banquet Chairperson - Leads the Blue & Gold Banquet committee.
- Works with the Cubmaster to come up with a vision for the banquet.
- Divides responsibilities for the banquet amongst members of the committee and other volunteers.
- Creates and manages sub-committees to put on the Blue & Gold Banquet.
- Ensures that all aspects of the banquet are taken care of (meal, program, invitations, decorations, entertainment, etc.)
Membership Chairperson - Handles all aspects of rechartering the pack including using online system to create reports and securing appropriate signatures.
- Works with the Cubmaster and Pack Committee to develop and carry out a plan for year round membership growth.
- Follows up on dropouts to help return them to full, active membership.
- Maintains the membership database in ScoutTrack as new members join.
- Helps Cubmaster at round ups.
- Makes new members feel comfortable in the pack and helps get their questions answered.
Advancement Chairperson - Has a working knowledge of cub scout advancement plans.
- Helps plan and conduct induction and advancement recognition ceremonies.
- Utilizes ScoutTrack to create advancement reports.
- Answers other leaders' questions about advancement.
- Maintains an account at the scout shop and purchases awards for monthly pack meetings.
- Organizes awards for easy presentation at pack meetings.
- Promotes the wearing and proper use of uniform and insignia.
Pack Committee Member The Pack Committee as a whole is responsible for the following. A member of the pack committee helps in these responsibilities. - Makes recommendations for pack leadership.
- Coordinates the pack's program.
- Helps stimulate the interst of adult family members through proper programming.
- Supervises finances and equipment.
- Works closely with the Cubmaster.
- Ensures that all scouts receive a year-round, quality program.
- Determines policies for the pack.
